The Words You Say
Anonymous
Day by day, the words you say,
cut through their hearts like a knife.
The actions you take and mistakes you make,
can effect or ruin their life.
Their eyes fill up with terror,
as tears roll down their faces.
What makes you think you are better than them,
to make them think they have no place?
Being called worthless is no joke,
But for you, you think it's cool
To verbally harass a defenseless kid,
over the internet, at home, and at school.
How do you feel, when the words you say,
have the power to end someone's future?
To make a person tremble with fear,
and feel like a fish without water.
At a loss for air with nowhere to turn,
and no longer is xe strong.
You make them fear the world outside,
and feel like they've done something wrong.
It does more than break my heart,
to know what you've done to tear them apart.

Would You Feel The Same? -Noelle Sonstrom
Would you feel the same if I beat down on your walls?
Would you feel the same if I made you feel so small?
Would you know what I go through when you act this way?
Or would you stay the way you are and look the other way?
Would you feel the same if I hammered through your heart?
Would you be the same if I tore your love apart?
Would you care how others feel if you endured the same?
Or would you throw away the pieces of your twisted game?
Do you know how others feel, or could you spend a day
Inside their lives, where you have now made a permanent stay?
Could you travel along their paths, knowing what they go through?
Or would you run away and hide, consumed in only you?
If I could show you my emotions, would you look away?
Or would a tear slip from your eye, seeing me in dismay?
Would you know how others feel, the others that you maim?
If I could show you the results, would you feel the same?
Would you feel the same if I beat down on your walls?
Would you feel the same if I made you feel so small?
Would you know what I go through when you act this way?
Or would you stay the way you are and look the other way?

What is memorial day really for?
Is it to honor those lost in a war?
Or is it just a Monday off from school?
If you think the latter then you're a fool.
It is a serious day to give thanks
To those who protected our homes and banks
And those who gave their lives for our country
To protect freedom and prosperity
When you see a veteran or soldier
Say thanks and give a pat on the shoulder
Always remember those who have fallen
For those who bravely answered the calling
On Memorial Day, what do you do?
Eat with family or have a barbecue?
You should stop and have a respectful thought
For those who have fallen, and those who have fought.

Memorial Day Poem - Emma Case and Nicole Dunning
On this day we remember our brave troops,
Modern day warriors who fight in groups.
Their brave sacrifice is hard to forget,
Goals of protecting their country are met.
Though we celebrate with burgers and dogs,
Soldiers must travel through deserts and bogs.
Looking at our flag of red, blue and white,
We think of our troops still fighting with might.
Families at home awaiting their return,
For the embrace of their loved ones they yearn.
Fireworks can be like the bombs in the sky,
While we celebrate, our soldiers still die.
We appreciate our troops on this day,
Sending our great love and support their way.

Memorial Day Poem - Matt Rinkus, Sean Woodcox
Thank you to all the troops that are falling,
The ghosts of the battlefield are calling;
The endless memorializing reign,
every year throughout the Darkness and rain,
a soldier gives his life for those back home,
he fights for his family, not for his own,
Ocean and air the marine shall live,
the army strong and all they do is give,
through the wind and the Clouds Air force will roam,
The Coast guard will bring all the lose home,
waves and sea can't stop what the navy see,
These branches unite and one they will be,
Thank you to all the troops that have fallen,
the ghosts of the battlefield were callin'.

Memorial Day Weekend - Emma K., and Alessandra S.
The last three day weekend of the school year,
Friday night all you could hear were the cheers.
The special day was made for those who fought,
Flags are put out and the flowers are bought.
Giving bravery and courage for us,
They died in war and gave us all their trust.
We honor them each year with big parades,
To cemeteries where flowers are laid.
People celebrate with friends and good food,
Picnics all day put people in good moods.
Hamburgers and hot dogs are on the grill,
Those playing volleyball go for the kill.
Soccer tournaments for kids all over,
In Boston, Cape Cod, Philly, and Dover.
With these we can't forget the true meaning,
To thank those who gave us all of their being!

Short-times Notice - Talan Daigle
I'm getting short, men, getting short
I'm heading for the nearest port
I've witnessed grief and felt despair
This army life's been in my hair
My time has come to leave my cell
I've had my share of time in hell
I'm going back from where I came
Back where I'm called by my first name
So someone else can take my place
I'm moving out of this rat race
And he can stand in line for chow
With discontent upon his brow
No SOS or army meat
Or "C" rations will I eat
For every meal time I'll be glad
Cause I can't even cook that bad
I'll wash my hands of NCO'S
And no more Guard where this guy goes
I've done my hitch and now I'm through
I'm switching back to stateside brew
My pocket holds the printed sheet
A GJ'S dream complete
For there appears my name, the date,
And on which ship I'll rotate
When o'er that sea, where I've longed to be
Those harbor lights will shine for me
And I'll return, no more to roam
To that dear place that's known as my home.
